What is in a prerelease kit
A prerelease kit is the sealed product built for the release-weekend event, the week before a set hits the shelves. We sell them for play at home and for stores that run their own events.
Magic: The Gathering prerelease pack
- 6 Play Boosters of the new set (older sets: 6 Draft Boosters).
- One date-stamped foil promo rare or mythic from the set.
- A spindown life counter die and a box that doubles as a deck box.
- For a Sealed game: build a 40-card deck from the 6 packs plus any basic lands, play best-of-three.
Prerelease packs ship from the distributor the week of the prerelease. Kits of sets released less than a year ago, like all sealed Magic, ship within Canada only.
Pokémon Build & Battle Box
- A 40-card ready-to-play deck built around one of four evolution lines, plus a deck box.
- 4 booster packs of the new set.
- One of 4 foil promo cards exclusive to the box.
- The format: add cards from the 4 packs to the 40-card deck and play. A Build & Battle Stadium is two boxes plus extra packs for two players.
Other games
Lorcana, One Piece and Riftbound have no prerelease kit as such; their launch products are starter decks and booster boxes. Riftbound's Proving Grounds set is the closest thing to a two-player launch kit.
